Undiagnosed Asthma

January 04, 2019
From US News: A survey of more than 33,000 high school students in New York by Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA has concluded that 20% have undiagnosed asthma or asthma-like symptoms. Researchers also found that teenage girls and Asian-Americans were more likely to go undiagnosed. According to Sharon Kingston, associate professor of psychology at the university, "There is a need for more public health education and outreach, not only for adolescents and their families, but also for health care providers who could screen adolescents for asthma.” Other research has also suggested that between 8 to 49 percent of people between 7 and 18 have undiagnosed asthma symptoms.
