Allergy Friendly Halloween

With Halloween quickly approaching we wanted to share some tips as well as implore people to become involved in the teal movement! The teal pumpkin movement is designed to be sensitive to the needs of children that have food allergies and cannot be involved in trick or treating the same way other children without allergies can be. In order to participate simply buy non-food treats and place a teal pumpkin on your front porch! Teal is the color of food allergy awareness and has been used to raise awareness about this serious medical condition for 20 years.
In the U.S one in every thirteen children have food related allergies. Many popular Halloween candies contain nuts, milk, egg, soy or wheat which are very common triggers. Some great alternatives to candy are glow in the dark sticks, stickers, crayons, or even small toys!
